I have a huge oc bias. I'm really, really not well-versed on a lot of popular fandoms/characters. I'm happy to treat them like just another oc, but please be aware that I most likely have zero idea of their lore/world.

I extremely tentatively ship romantically. and there must be ic interaction before I consider it. io is incredibly hard to ship with, not only because of their personality, but because they simply do not fall in love easily. long-term writing partners are the exception to this.

I periodically go through my blog and clean out posts, just to keep everything neat. if I tag something with tbd it will get deleted in the future. if you commented on it/liked it, then I think you're super neat but I also love keeping the blog clean.

and finally, this blog is basically permanent low-activity. I'm a full time, dual-majored university student who works. I also have a lot of animals (livestock included) at home who have first claim to my free time.

Fic Tag Game

Once again I saw this before work and then promptly forgot to do it when I got home. So I’m doing it now at almost 2:30 am. As always, thanks to @vishcount for the tag!

Name: Kholran (or Khol)

This is my go-to screen name for just about everything. I made it up for a tabletop RP character that I never ended up actually playing. So I stole his name for myself and have been using it ever since. Chances are if you encounter a Kholran anywhere online, it’s me.

Fandoms: Since this is specifically about fic, I’m going to limit it to fandoms I’ve written in. Because otherwise we’d be here all night.

Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit: Specifically Bard/Thranduil (Barduil). It literally took one exchanged glance on screen and I was totally sold on this ship. I wrote more for them than any other ship I’ve shipped. AUs, canon, you name it I wrote it for them.

Les Miserables: Ok so let me start by saying I’ve been a huge fan of the musical since middle school, when the 10th Anniversary Dream Cast happened. I read the Brick in 7th grade. So I didn’t JUST jump on the bandwagon when the movie came out. But that Les Mis renaissance did inspire me to write my one and only fic in the fandom. A Titanic AU that turned out less cracky than intended. Don’t judge me.

Guardian: So technically speaking I haven’t PUBLISHED any Weilan fic yet. But I do have the first four and a half chapters of a mermaid AU finished. And I plan on getting back to it and finishing it once I stop obsessing over my pool noodle in-

DMBJ/Lost Tomb: Something about cdrama gives me plot bunnies. And adopted side characters. And rarepair pool noodles, apparently. This is where I’m living right now, paddling around on the SS Risang.

Tropes: Uhh. I’m positive I write tropes but it’s not like a conscious thing? I guess angst with a happy ending is where it’s at? Considering I love me some damaged characters, it’s almost impossible not to write a lot of angst into my fics. But I also want to give them love and happiness and cookies.

Fic I spent most time on: I think probably the aforementioned Weilan mermaid AU. Because I started it last...September? Maybe? And I haven’t finished it yet.

Favorite fic(s) you’ve written:

I’m happy to report that I don’t...hate...my old fics? Like I can re-read them and sometimes even think I’m not half bad at this hobby. But at the same time I fall into the mindset of “Oh that could have been better. I should have done this differently. I want to change that so bad. Man I wish I’d finished this series.”

So I think I’ll have to say the Under Your Skin Barduil series, featuring soulmate tattoos. I wish I hadn’t gotten too insecure to finish it because I had a whole big idea plotted out that I just never ended up writing. I like what I did finish though. And then I think my very favourite is my Risang pool noodle baby, I Will Go Now to My Pyre. Not only is it my rarepair crowning glory (in that I named the ship, was the first one in the tag, and got more than one “I never even thought about this ship before but I’m into it” comments), but I’ve put so much time and sweat and tears into it. (PS I promise I’m working on the conclusion! It’s 7k words and counting!)

Fic I spent least time on: I don’t even know. Maybe I Get By? From concept to publishing I think it was only a few days.

Longest fic: It’s definitely GOING to be the Weilan AU. But currently it’s In Every Age, the Les Mis Titanic AU. I Will Go Now to My Pyre might end up beating that one by the time it’s done. We’ll see.

Shortest fic: AO3 says it’s Run, which was the intro to a Barduil Zombie Apocalypse AU. But it didn’t get much of a response so I never continued it past the brief intro.

Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: Um. Literally all of them. Like I said above, as soon as I re-read them, I want to re-WRITE them. Because I think I can always make them better. But I guess I’ll really say the Under Your Skin series. Also like I said above, I had a whole storyline planned out for that and I’m sad I didn’t get around to fleshing it out.

Share a bit of a WIP: Ok, here’s a tiny sneak peek of the next (I say next instead of last even though it’s supposed to be the last because the word count is getting away from me and it might end up split) chapter of I Will Go Now to My Pyre:

“Did you do this yourself?” he asked, grimacing at the state of the bandage as he started to cut it away, slowly revealing the marred skin beneath. The question was met with silence, and Liu Sang briefly glanced up from what he was doing. Zhang Rishan had an odd expression on his face, like he'd somehow misinterpreted what Liu Sang was asking. “The bandage. Did you do it yourself?”

“Oh.” Relief? That was weird. What had Zhang Rishan thought he meant? “Yes. I spent some time in the Army a while back,” Zhang Rishan replied, as if that explained everything.

Liu Sang watched him for a moment longer before turning his focus back to his task. Everything about the dressing and the wrapping was wrong, and half the gashes he'd revealed needed stitching. He wondered if they'd even been cleaned first. Probably not, given the warmth of Zhang Rishan's skin and the angry reddened edges of the wounds.  “Not as a medic, I hope,” he muttered after a beat.

Eris Spiritheart - Female. Half-Legionnaire of Spirit Warband and twin of Arcturis, has never gotten over losing her girlfriend, Vanessa. Sort of depressed, and learnt the way of the Revenant so she could perhaps one day speak to her beloved once more. A lot of Spirit’s think this makes her unsuitable for the role of legionnaire, so she shares the duty.

Arcturis Spirtmaw - Male. Half-Legionnaire of Spirit Warband and twin of Eris, A worry-wart and mom-friend. Will always be there for his friends, and will always chop off someone’s head for them, too. 

Bess Havocether - Female. Soldier of Havoc Warband. Cannoner and child of two aetherblades. Grew up on the ships, but got herself lost on a mission- saw what the Aethers were doing and was disgusted, so deserted to the Legions. Very untrusted, still.

Seamstress Kombucha - Female. A tailor, making a living selling garments to any cloth-wearers that may want them.

Klovan - Male. Gladium scum. He tries so hard to get into a warband but no one will take the poor bugger.

Artois Earthshaker - Agender. A charr elementalist who became slowly encased in stone. Now looks more like an earth elemental. (Sort of not RP)

Auxantios (Secondary) - Male. Alchemist. Knew killing the elder dragons was a bad idea, is very ‘told you so’ about that fact. Makes poison and stuff. Probably the ash-iest iron legion ever.

Aries The Obstinate - Female (MtF). Transgender charr lady, and guard of Stonemist castle. Dies a lot, but hey, she’s already in hell the mists.

Luluzure Vividwrath - Female (MtF). A pretty charr with no real lore. I didn’t even make her! Probably something simple like a farmer. Kangra Silverbrew - Female.

Ash

Speldan (Main) - Agender. Part of the Tyrian Expedition Companionship, often ends up as the cleaner. Spends most of her time cleaning the ships and lugging around heavy materials. Has a pet moa named Screech, who is a noisy little bugger, and talks to him a lot.

Congou (Secondary) - Female. An eccentric drake-breeder who has a lot of wanderlust and no self-control. Often ends up who-knows-where in search of new breeding stock.

Tamika Dustshot - Female. Bullied by her peers due to her low, smooth voice, Tamika moved to Divinities Reach where she now is a renowned jazz musician. Very well groomed, pretty rich, and mostly liked. Close to Xyx and Temac, and has shelled out a LOT of her money to keep Temac safe.

Temac Gemstrike - Female. Thief of the notorious Gem warband (Which is more of a thieves guild?) Out to steal the rarest and finest, sell it on, split the profits. Also runs a shop where she sells seedy stuff and also rare, expensive stolen items. She does not know it, but Tamika buys most of her stolen stuff and returns it to keep her out of trouble.

Rauch The Brusque - Intersex, she/her. The loneliest charr. Lost in Magumma after the passing of her warband, Rauch hopes for nothing more than to feel the closeness she once had. She won’t let it be known, though.

Taube Lunargleam - Male.   Medic of Lunar warband .Guardian and battleaxe nurse. Will cut your leg off and scorch it until it’s not bleeding if you tell him you got a bruise. Doesn’t really understand that other people feel pain- doesn’t do what he does because he’s evil, he just doesn’t understand. How he got to be medic, no one knows. (Please replace him I don’t want Xyx to have no arms or legs)

Kallisti Smokehunt - Female. Another pretty charr with no real lore. Oops. 

Toucha Blacksnow - Male. Soldier of Black warband. Born and raised by charr adventurers in the shiverpeaks, sent to serve the legions in the citadel. It’s ALWAYS too hot for him.

Teague Blackblade - Male. An old, scarred sentinel who suffers from PTSD. He has retired to a farmers life, and tends to ramble.

Worina Blackweld - Female. Legionnaire of Black Warband. An old guardian with a hatred of, and unfortunate knack for, healing. 0 sense of humour.

Galao Blackcandle - Male. Quaestor of Black warband. is usually found cooking for his warband on missions, and seldom fights. When he does, you wouldn’t guess he is not a fighter- specializing in stunning and taking a foe out quickly.

Malaya Blackheart - Female, we guess?? Soldier of Black warband. A silent thief, who tends to follow her legionnaire until there’s a fight to be had.

Breve Blackeye - Male. Disgraced soldier of Black warband. A drunken hobo whose unfortunate past lead to a hatred of asura. Extremely volatile and unpredictable. Drinks to forget the horrors he faced whilst being an inquest test subject.
